Why did our grannies practice hot laundry?

The Problem

  • In order to save energy and protect the environment, low washing temperatures and energy-saving programs are popular when doing laundry. Many modern textiles can only be washed at low temperatures.
  • However, studies show that the number of microbes is practically not reduced at a washing temperature of 30 to 40 degrees Celsius.
  • As a result the growth of bacteria will be encouraged. The body-odours in the laundry will be covered with the scents contained in detergent and fabric softener
  • The Federal Institute for Risk Assessment therefore recommends washing textiles contaminated with microbes, such as underwear, towels, dishcloths and cleaning cloths, at 60 degrees Celsius. But what about the textiles that can only be washed at 30-40 degrees, such as women's underwear?
  • However, disinfectants should not simply be added to the detergent, because they are very aggressive and must be dosed and used correctly. In addition, they do not destroy all germs either - the surviving ones become less sensitive and become resistant.

IMPORTANT! OUR RECOMMENDATION

  1. If you have an old washing machine, it may be that the bacterial film is already too strong and the BlueMagicBall® can therefore only develop its full effect after 2-3 washes. We therefore recommend rinsing older washing machines at 95°C before using them for the first time.
  2. Please use the ball with every wash and not just sporadically, otherwise it cannot develop its full effect.
